What industries are aluminum alloy forging products mainly used in?

2022-10-10 16:03:17

Aluminum alloy forging products have been widely used in the market and have attracted increasing attention from the industry due to their advantages such as low specific gravity, high specific strength, and high specific stiffness. So in which markets is the demand relatively high? Below are some industries that aluminum alloy forging manufacturers have:

(1) Aviation (aircraft) forgings: Aircraft forgings account for about 70% of the weight of aircraft data, such as landing gear, frame, ribs, engine components, moving and stationary rings, etc. There are thousands of forgings used on an aircraft, and except for a few high-temperature components that use high-temperature alloys and titanium alloy forgings, the vast majority of them have been aluminum plated. For example, Boeing in the United States produces thousands of aircraft annually, requiring tens of thousands of tons of aluminum alloy forgings per year. China's fighter jets and other military and civilian aircraft are also rapidly developing, especially with the launch of major aircraft projects and the implementation of key projects such as aircraft carriers, the demand for aluminum forgings will also increase year by year.

(2) Aerospace forgings: The forgings on spacecraft mainly include forged rings, wheel rims, wing beams, and machine bases, with the vast majority being aluminum forgings and only a few requiring titanium forgings. The demand for aluminum forgings is increasing with the development of spacecraft, rockets, missiles, satellites, etc. In recent years, China has developed AL Li alloy shell forgings for ultra long range missiles, each weighing over 300 kilograms and worth hundreds of thousands of yuan. The usage of various types of aluminum alloy forging rings with a diameter of 1.5 to 6mm is also increasing.

(3) The weapons industry has greatly increased the use of aluminum alloy forgings as load-bearing components in conventional weapons such as tanks, armored vehicles, personnel carriers, tanks, rockets, gun mounts, and warships, fundamentally replacing steel forgings. Especially important forgings such as forged aluminum alloy tank load wheels have become important materials for lightweighting and modernization of weapons and equipment.

(4) Automobiles are an industry where aluminum alloy forgings have a promising future and are also a major user of aluminum forgings. Aluminum alloy forging is mainly used as wheel hubs (especially for heavy-duty vehicles and large and medium-sized buses), bumpers, base beams, and other small aluminum forgings. Among them, aluminum wheel hubs are the most widely used aluminum forgings, mainly used in buses, trucks, and heavy-duty vehicles. In recent years, it has also been applied in small and medium-sized cars, motorcycles, and luxury cars. According to statistics, the annual growth rate of aluminum wheel hub usage in the world has exceeded 20% in recent years, and the current usage has reached billions.

(5) In the energy and power industry, aluminum forgings will gradually replace certain steel forgings in the manufacturing of frames, retaining rings, moving and stationary rings, as well as coal transport wheels, liquefied natural gas flanges, nuclear power plant fuel racks, etc., which are generally large and medium-sized forgings.

(6) Aluminum forgings are used on ships and vessels as frames, moving and stationary rings, gun turrets, etc.

(7) In the mechanical manufacturing industry, it is currently mainly used to manufacture frames, sliders, connecting rods, and wire reels in woodworking machinery, textile machinery, etc. Only aluminum forgings for wire reels used in textile machinery are needed in China every year, with tens of thousands of pieces weighing over 1500 tons.

(8) Aluminum alloy forgings are used in the mold industry to manufacture rubber molds, shoe molds, and other light industry molds.

(9) In the transportation machinery and locomotive industry, aluminum alloy forging is widely used for cylinders, piston skirts, etc. Only in China, tens of thousands of forged parts such as cylinders and piston skirts made of 4032 alloy are consumed annually.

(10) In other areas, such as electronic communication, household appliances, and cultural and sports equipment, aluminum forgings have also begun to be used instead of steel, copper, and other materials.
