What is the difference between aluminum alloy forging and aluminum die-casting

2022-10-10 17:22:50

Aluminum alloy forging is an aluminum alloy mainly used for forging processing. Die cast aluminum alloy belongs to cast aluminum alloy, but it is mainly cast aluminum alloy by pressure casting. Let's take a detailed look at the difference between aluminum alloy forging and aluminum die-casting?

Forged aluminum alloys include A1 Si Mg Cu alloys and A1 Cu Ni Fe alloys. Commonly used forged aluminum alloys include LD2, LD5, LDl0, etc. They contain a variety of alloying elements, but in small amounts. They have excellent thermoplasticity, so their forging performance is very good, and their mechanical properties are also good. This type of alloy is mainly used for load-bearing die forgings and some complex shaped forgings.

There are four major types of cast aluminum alloys: A1 Si series, A1 Cu series, Al Mg series, and Al Zn series. For cast aluminum alloys, in addition to necessary mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, they should also have good casting performance. In the casting of aluminum alloys, the Al Si alloy, also known as silicon aluminum alloy, has the best combination of casting performance and mechanical properties.

Aluminum alloys have good casting performance, low density, excellent corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and weldability; Used for manufacturing castings with complex shapes but low strength requirements, such as aircraft, instrument casings, etc; Manufacturing low to medium strength castings with complex shapes, such as motor housings, cylinder blocks, fan blades, engine pistons, etc.
