Characteristics and advantages of stamping process

2022-10-10 16:44:54

Stamping processing is a production technology that uses a mold installed on a press machine to apply deformation force to the sheet metal placed in the mold, causing the sheet metal to deform in the mold and obtain a certain shape, size, and performance of stamped products. Due to the fact that stamping processing is often carried out at room temperature, it is also known as cold stamping. Stamping is one of the metal pressure processing methods, and the raw materials for stamping processing are generally sheet metal or strip metal, so it is also known as sheet metal stamping.

Stamping process refers to the specific method (sum of various stamping processes) and technical experience of stamping processing; Stamping die refers to a special specialized tool used to process sheet metal into stamped parts. Sheet metal, molds, and stamping equipment are the three essential elements that make up stamping processing.

Stamping technology has high production efficiency, short production cycle, and a wide range of processing sizes, so many mobile phone back covers (lower end) use stamping technology. Why can't stamping be used to make small parts such as phone card holders? Because the precision of stamping cannot meet the requirements of mobile phone card holders.

The characteristics and applications of stamping processing. Stamping production relies on molds and presses to complete the processing process. Compared with other processing methods, it has the following technical and economic characteristics:

1. The dimensional accuracy of stamping parts is guaranteed by the die, which has the same characteristics, so the quality is stable and the interchangeability is good. During stamping, because the die ensures the size and shape accuracy of the stamping part, and generally does not damage the surface quality of the stamping part, and the life of the die is generally long, the stamping quality is stable, the interchangeability is good, and the stamping is "exactly the same".

2. Due to the use of molds for processing, features such as thin walls, light weight, good rigidity, high surface quality, and complex shapes cannot be achieved by other processing methods. Stamping can process parts with a large size range and complex shapes, such as small stopwatches for clocks, large car longitudinal beams, covers, etc. In addition, the cold deformation hardening effect of the material during stamping results in high strength and stiffness.

3. Stamping processing not only saves energy, but also saves metal because it does not require heating of the blank, nor does it cut a large amount of metal like cutting processing. Stamping generally does not generate chips or debris, consumes less material, and does not require other heating equipment, making it a material saving method.

4. For ordinary presses, they can produce dozens of pieces per minute, while high-speed presses can produce hundreds or thousands of pieces per minute. Stamping processing has high production efficiency, convenient operation, and is easy to achieve mechanization and automation. This is because stamping relies on stamping dies and stamping equipment to complete the processing. The number of strokes of a regular press can reach dozens of times per minute, while high-speed pressure can reach hundreds or even thousands of times per minute, and each stamping stroke may result in a stamped part.
