Reasons and control of wrinkling in stamped parts

Wrinkles in the processing of stamping parts in Kunshan can result in the scrapping of the parts, which not only increases manufacturing costs but also causes waste of raw materials. It needs to be analyzed and controlled.


The cause is:


1. Insufficient edge pressure results in an inappropriate gap between the pressing surfaces, leading to a problem of "loose inside and tight outside".


2. Too much lubricating oil or too frequent brushing, or improper brushing position.


3. The trial punching blank is too soft, the material strength is low, and the blank size is too small to press the material.


4. Unstable positioning of the blank leads to local inability to press the material, improper shape of the pressing surface, and uneven feeding.


5. Improper stamping direction.



Measures to control wrinkles:


1. Check the wrinkling status. When wrinkles are evenly generated around the workpiece, it should be judged as insufficient pressing force. Gradually increasing the pressing force can eliminate them. When deepening conical and hemispherical parts, additional deep drawing ribs should be used to increase the internal tensile stress inside the plate to eliminate wrinkles. Adopting the principle of "tight inside and loose outside" to eliminate the problem of "loose inside and tight outside".


2. For lubricating oil, the brushing work should be carried out according to the operating procedures and system requirements to ensure the correct brushing amount and brushing position, and to avoid wrinkling.


3. Replace the raw material of parts that are too soft without affecting the overall requirements of the vehicle, ensuring the quality of the parts and avoiding wrinkling.


4. Improve positioning and add pre bending process if necessary to ensure that there will be no deviation of the sheet metal during stamping. Modify the shape of the pressing surface to ensure the quality of the parts and avoid uneven feeding caused by the shape of the pressing surface remaining unchanged.


5. In response to improper stamping direction, simulation software should be used in the early design stage to analyze the process of the parts and ensure the stamping direction of the parts. When high quality requirements are placed on the parts, the molds need to be redeveloped and the stamping direction adjusted.
